A refraction is the procedure done by the doctor to obtain a glasses/contact lens prescription. The question "Which is better, one or two?" is frequently used to help fine tune your vision. The doctor will release a prescription if necessary. This procedure is not covered by all insurance companies. Our refraction policy is available for review in our forms section.

The instrument using the blue light is called a Tonometer. At Eye Specialists, we use the process of applanation to measure the pressure in your eyes. A combination drop of yellow dye and numbing agent is instilled in each eye. Measurements are completed after the tip of the probe gently touches your eye. This is used in lieu of the ‘puff of air’ for pressure checks.
